2026 Postcards

Last year, I made some postcards for an exhibition I participated in. I thought they turned out quite well, so I decided to print some again this year. This time, it wasn’t for any specific project; I just wanted to test out some previous drawings that I like. Looking at the finished product, though… well, I realized I messed up the design a bit. Oh well, it’s all about experimentation!

It’s been a while since my last update.

My daughter is now 12 years old.

In her daily life, she uses French. Naturally, as she grew up, her French reached an age-appropriate level. But at the same time, her English, which she used to not speak at all, suddenly improved out of nowhere. (Personally, I think this is because she spent several years watching all 700+ episodes of Naruto plus all the movies in Japanese audio with English subtitles.)

On top of that, I think her Japanese comprehension has gotten fairly good, too. During our trip to Japan this summer, she was able to follow and join in on family conversations pretty well. However, her vocabulary is still lacking, which can make things inconvenient at times. That’s due to a lack of effort on my part. Trying to fit Japanese language education into our usual chaotic daily life takes a lot of effort and time.

So while I have plenty of excuses like that, even when my daughter can’t find the right word, she still manages to improvise and communicate her point.

Three years ago, I jotted down a note about something cute she said, but I never got around to drawing it into a comic. Now, three years later, I’ve finally finished it…

久々の更新です。

娘現在１２歳。（今週から中学校がスタートしました！）

普段の生活ではフランス語を使います。成長するにつれ、当然フランス語は年相応に上達したのですが、と、同時に、以前は一切話さなかった英語も急に上達しました。（これは、ナルト全７００話以上プラス映画も全てを数年かけて日本語音声にしながら英語の字幕で見たせいだと私は勝手に思ってます）

そして、ついでに日本語もわりと理解できるようになったと思います。今回の夏の日本旅行でも家族の会話にはそこそこ入ってこれてました。ただ、語彙数がどうしても足りなく不便な時もあります。私の努力不足です。普段のワタワタしてる生活の中で、日本語教育を加えるのはかなりの努力と時間を要します。

そんなこんなで言い訳は色々あるのですが、娘も適当な単語が見つからないにしても、それなりに工夫してコミュニケートはしてくれます。娘の発言がかわいいなと思って以前メモっていて、なかなか描けなかったコマ、３年後にして、ようやっと出来ました。。。
